About Michael Card

In a career that spans more than three decades, Michael Card has recorded 35 albums—which have collectively sold more than 4 million copies—and written 19 No. 1 hits. The Dove Award–winning musician’s classic songs include “El Shaddai,” “Love Crucified Arose,” “Immanuel,” and more recently, “Come Lift Up Your Sorrows.”

Card has taken his ministry beyond music and authored or co-authored over 24 books, including the Gold Medallion Book Award winner A Sacred Sorrow. He has also written the Biblical Imagination Series, with a book and accompanying music CD for each of the four gospels.

“I try and communicate my interest and fascination in the gospels and the person of Jesus and get people drawn back into the Bible,” Card recently told Christianity Today. “I’d love it if people buy my records, but the point is that they go home and open the Bible.”

Formerly a national radio host, Card speaks regularly around the U.S. and Canada as a noted theologian. He also serves as mentor to many younger artists and musicians, teaching courses on the creative process and calling the Christian recording industry into deeper discipleship. He and his wife, Susan, live in Middle Tennessee and have four children.
